Hi! I’m Sandra Morris, longarm quilter!

I live in southwestern Pennsylvania, a rural area where farms are abundant, and the seasons are beautiful no matter what time of year it is. (Although I do prefer summer over winter.) 

Let me introduce you to my cottage business Sandra Morris Creations-Quilting Service.  I started this business because I love to make quilts, like I’m sure you do too.  My husband started out laughing at me for cutting up fabric and then just sewing it back together again, but after seeing a few of the quilt tops, he has a great admiration for the process.  He knows the work involved and understands why I am always eager to get my quilt tops quilted.

I’m a firm believer that you’re never too old for new things.  I had always wanted to learn how to quilt and was lucky enough, several years ago, to find a great quilter, Amy, owner of my local quilt shop, who taught me quilt piecing. We became fast friends, too. (That’s another great thing about the quilting community—We’re all friends!)

Anyway, those pieced quilt tops became my passion. But I wanted them finished.  Because I live in a rural area, local longarmers were not easy to find. There were a couple, but most of the time I had to send my quilt tops to someone for quilting.  The quilting process fascinated me, and I wanted to learn how to do it myself.

So, after a long career in the field of nonprofits, I came to a time in my life when I was able to purchase an APQS Millennium (Millie) computerized longarm machine equipped with the Quilt Path computerized quilting system, and I started my home business of longarm quilting in 2019. I bought my Millie, got my training, and took off doing something I had always wanted to do. I soon learned that I love doing longarm quilting as much--or even more than piecing quilt tops!

Since my business started, I’ve quilted over 100 quilts, runners, and other items.  My 14-foot quilting system allows me to quilt everything from table runners and placemats up to king size quilts, which I think is great!  For an additional fee I can also provide batting for your quilt, and I can bind your quilt too. I machine stitch the front of the binding and hand stitch the back.
